Photography Show - Deborah Putman
In her own words: “I fell in love with photography back in 1973 in high school art classes at Cicero High School. Photography has helped me navigate through every stage of my life’s journey.
Much of my inspiration comes from nature, but I also love to practice street photography, portraiture, and still life. It gives me such pleasure to discover and capture the extraordinary elements within ordinary scenes. It’s as if I am tugging on the shirtsleeves of others, urging them to disregard the big picture and share the beauty of this ‘seen scene’ within.
After a long teaching career in the Syracuse City School District I retired in 2014. I now spend as much time as possible creating photographic art and playing Traditional Irish fiddle music.
I have been an active member of the Syracuse Camera Club since my retirement. Recently I was awarded a two week residency at the Cill Rialaig Project’s artist retreat in Ballinskelligs, Co. Kerry, Ireland. This allowed me to spend time capturing the beauty of Ireland’s landscapes and several traditional Irish musicians in the surrounding area. Currently I am working on publishing my first photography book, about traditional Irish musicians in the NYC area in the late 70's and 80's.
All of the photos displayed here are for sale. My photo cards can be found at Bloomin’ Cup in Tully and Carol Watson’s Greenhouse in Lafayette. More examples of my work can be found on Instagram....debputman2018.”
